Seb’s used to a fast paced kind of life. The move from France to New Zealand could have been seen as a far more relaxing alternative, but life in litigation and his new baby boy keep him on his toes. Working with all the nuts and bolts behind dispute resolution, Seb’s focus is general commercial and intellectual property disputes. He’s certainly added an international flair to our office. Although Seb’s an expert on the perfect espresso, he hasn’t yet convinced us that three-wheeled Italian scooters are the ideal mode of transportation. We did, however, have to agree when he declared himself a talented chef. Freshly baked croissants and “pains au chocolat” win the Auckland Office over every Bastille Day.
Seb has dispute resolution down pat. His expertise is in confidential information, patents, trade marks and copyright disputes; whether in proceedings before the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ) or the Court. His skill set also includes intellectual property commercialisation and commercial contracts.
Seb is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and holds a Master of Laws from the Sorbonne University of Paris. He also studied at the University of Auckland.
"Sebastien and Gus recently obtained a great result for me and my business. Their negotiation skills were key in finding a commercial solution to a high-stake contractual dispute and avoiding the need for expensive litigation. I was most impressed with their dedication to finding a commercially savvy solution which suited my interests. I highly recommend the Dispute Resolution Team at James & Wells to anyone in a difficult situation and needing strategic advice on how to go about resolving it. The key to cost effective solutions is to involve James & Wells early in the process. This prevented the situation from deteriorating and made it possible to quickly come to an agreement satisfactory to all parties.”

“Gus and Sébastien are currently helping us enforce our intellectual property rights in the courts. They have applied their strong expertise in confidential information and industrial copyright law to our highly technical products and our unique situation. This has given us the confidence to take the necessary steps to protect our most valuable assets.”
"Most recently Claire Deeks and Sébastien Aymeric obtained a great result for us in a very short period of time after we found out that a fashion garment we had designed and made had been completely knocked off and was being sold in Auckland for more than the price of our original! Business owners should not hesitate to protect their intellectual property rights and I highly recommend contacting the JAWS litigation team to enforce these rights and protect your business assets. It proved to be a very cost-effective solution for us since we recovered funds from the infringer that were well in excess of the legal fees incurred."
