Dr. John Mansell specialises in managing intellectual property portfolios including preparing, prosecuting and enforcing intellectual property rights. His practice focuses on the life sciences areas particularly biotechnology, food technologies, genomics, metabolomics, and proteomics fields. John helps clients identify and assess risks to their business, develop and implement intellectual property strategies, and carry out due diligence.
John is a member of the James & Wells ‘Food and Beverage Innovation’ team and the ‘Life Sciences Innovation’ team.Outside of the office, John keeps busy playing squash, reading, running and listening to music. Learning how to dive is his next big challenge. .
Prior to joining James & Wells, John was a Senior Associate at top intellectual property firm, AJ Park. John has also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Brigham Women’s Hospital in Boston.
John’s business and industry knowledge compliments his role as a judge in both the New Zealand Innovation Awards and the New Zealand Food Awards.
