Gary is a patent attorney working in James and Wells'
Christchurch office in the mechanical & physical technologies
team. He has extensive experience in solid state and atmospheric
sciences, along with ICT and environmental sciences.

Gary has served as a company director and has a good
understanding of the commercial issues that surround the
establishment and operation of new ventures and commercialising
intellectual property. Gary is available to assist with analysis of
business opportunities from a commercial and a scientific
viewpoint.
Gary joined James & Wells in April 2005 having worked for 15
years as a research scientist in DSIR before moving into science
management. He held positions as Director of DSIR Physical
Sciences and General Manager (Atmospheric Division) at NIWA.
Gary was also a Director of the Research Office at the University
of Waikato and CEO for WaikatoLink and in these positions helped
establish the University's IP portfolio and set up a number of
intellectual property related companies.
Gary is a fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Patent
Attorneys and a member of the Royal Society of New Zealand.
