Importing/exporting goods
Imported stock may be unsaleable in New Zealand if it infringes
intellectual property rights here. The Customs Department has the
authority to search incoming goods and seize those infringing the
intellectual property rights of others. The cost to the importer of
this type of seizure is high.
Exporters should also be concerned to determine whether or not a
product which they wish to export may be marketed and used in a
particular country without infringing intellectual property rights
in that country.
James & Wells is able to undertake this type of
investigation and devise intellectual property strategies for
exporters using the information gathered.
