Plant Variety Rights
James & Wells' Plant Variety Rights Team
advises clients involved in developing new plant cultivars on
methods for protecting their work, including registering plant
variety rights and plant patents.
Protection for a new plant variety may be obtained from The
Plant Variety Rights Office of New Zealand. A plant variety must be
new, distinct, uniform and stable to be protected. Protecting a new
plant variety prevents others from reproducing the same variety of
plant, or reproductive material of that plant for sale.
